The Group „Pentru Orhei” („For Orhei”), the team of Shor Party, deputy mayors and heads of municipal institutions have presented today, on 1 March, at a press conference the priorities for 2017 to improve the city’s infrastructure and raise the living standards of Orhei dwellers.

At the conference, the Head of the Group „Pentru Orhei” Pavel Verejan has read out the message of Orhei Mayor Ilan Shor, stating:

„Dear friends!

The fact that temporarily I am not able to be in Orhei does not mean that the city and City Hall are not my main concern. I dedicate most of my time to the problems regarding Orhei. You will see this once the members of our team, group
„Pentru Orhei” of the City Council and City Hall management bring to your attention the local development plan for this year. The included projects are ambitious and cover all spheres of activity – from infrastructure to the social sphere and cultural events. First, let me state clearly that I do not intend to neglect any of the election promises that I have made – they will definitely be fulfilled. Moreover, the more new ideas appear and they will also be brought to life. All of us, majority of the City Council, City Hall, but most importantly – city dwellers are the members of a united group – Orhei Group, and we are determined to transform Orhei in the most prosperous city in the country. I assure you that this will be the case!

To conclude, I would like to express my hope that in the near future I will already be able to talk personally with the city dwellers.”

Pavel Verejan presented the Orhei Development Program for 2017 which includes several areas and focuses on promises from 2015.

Thus, it should be noted that the road construction will continue in 2017. And although about 30 kilometers of road and 6 kilometers of sidewalks have been repaired and reconstructed so far, another 10 kilometers of road will be undergo capital repair in 2017.

Own paving manufacturing equipment will also be purchased, which will cut costs and create new jobs, as well as will enable the city to be equipped with own production.

The team of the Group „Pentru Orhei” is also aimed at capital reconstruction of the Orhei city center. It will be one of the most grandiose projects and is to be completed by 2019. Moreover, the urban planning project will be complex and unique for the Republic of Moldova and will include not only repair of streets and sidewalks, but also facades of buildings, street lighting; new green areas, pedestrian areas and public places will be built.

Another important achievement is to arrange the city lake and recreation area adjacent to the lake – beach, Orhei park and the dam. By implementing this project, the authorities assure that as soon as this summer, Orhei lake will become a recreation and leisure center for both locals and visitors alike.

Also, we cannot speak of a modern city without a well-developed cultural life. In this context, given the fact that the cultural sphere is an important aspect of daily life of Orhei dwellers, the team of the Group „Pentru Orhei” will continue developing this sphere by organizing large-scale and world-class events. Thus, Ivanos park will be transformed into an open air stage, where concerts and festivals, such as the film festival, free forums, competitions and many other activities for the integration of young people from Orhei will be held.

At the same time, the reforms will also continue in the social sphere. Besides welfare stores opened not only in Orhei city, but also in Chisinau, Cahul, Ceadir-Lunga, Comrat and Calarasi, the members of Mayor Ilan Shor’s team will implement a program on reimbursement of costs to meet various needs in city kindergartens, to pay household bills, as well as on provision of material aid to pensioners and those in need. The program on awarding the best pupils, launched on Ilan Shor’s own initiative, will continue in the following years.

In addition, another large-scale project aimed at low-income persons and young families will be implemented starting from this April-May. It is about social housing project.

This project will be the most successful one having a major impact not only in Orhei city, but over time, throughout the country. During the construction, a unique technology and a special funding program will be used. This will allow new owners to buy back the dwelling in 25 years, paying monthly an available amount.

Besides these social reforms, the works on repair of city kindergartens will also continue. It is to be recalled that last year, five additional groups were opened, so that 160 children, who were on waiting lists, gained access to education.

Also, another 10 playgrounds for children will be built in Orhei in 2017, so that it will become a city with the most playgrounds and sports fields of next generation.

A unique reform aimed at young people is the construction of the Milsami Football Academy. Thus, on Mayor Ilan Sor’s initiative in partnership with the management of the football club “Milsami” the Football Academy will be established, where children and young people will work out, learn basic skills and eventually build their professional careers of great players. This institution will become a modern material and technical base, with three football fields, of which two are natural-grass and one is artificial-turf field, gyms, changing rooms, shower, halls and will be a sports attraction not only for young people from Orhei, but also for the whole country.

Also in 2017, the local television Orhei-TV, which will become an unbiased information platform for Orhei dwellers, will be launched in Orhei.

Thanks to the implemented reforms and the objectives to be achieved, Orhei is a city with a continuing dynamics of development, and the goal of the Group „Pentru Orhei” is to transform it into the most prosperous city in the country.
