The juridical commission for rules and immunities will present to parliament an expertise of the electoral legislation which stayed at the basis of the invalidation of the new local polls in the Chisinau municipality till 31 October 2018. The parliament adopted a decision to this effect today.   

The juridical commission for rules and immunities was empowered to analyze the legal framework which stayed at the basis of the invalidation of the new local polls in the Moldovan capital. The expertise will be made in line with the international standards in terms of elections, with reference to the premises and legal motivation which stayed at the basis of the invalidation of the new elections, including the ones dealing with the use of social networks.

The conclusions will include proposals on the improvement of the normative framework, in order to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and strengthen the citizens’ electoral rights.

On 20 May and 3 June 2018, new local polls were held in Chisinau. Afterwards, law courts invalidated the ballot.
