President of the Republic of Moldova Igri Dodon participated in a conference dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Iasi-Chisinau operation, after which our country was liberated from the fascist invaders.

“Dear veterans! Dear friends! Every year, this date with we honor, remember our heroes, remember those difficult days. I am very glad that always in these days, today and tomorrow, we will be together at the memorial “Eternity” and in Sharpeni. This means that there is memory in Moldova, people remember, people honor, and the heroic deeds are not forgotten.

I want to recall separately that thanks to these events, there are chances, and I am confident that we will be able to pass on that pride to our children, the next generations. I am proud that such veterans are next to me.

The generation before us remembered all this and preserved this memory, preserved our country and gave it to us. The question for us is that we should pass this on to the next generations. And we will do it, I am sure. Will the next generation be able to do the same thing: appreciate and understand?

I want to thank those public figures who deal with these issues on a daily basis, do not forget, despite the very serious problems that we face in the Moldovan society. We, the heirs of victory, have something to be proud of!

And if we can transfer this further, then we knowingly had the opportunity to live next to such heroes. It’s our duty.

I want to congratulate all of you, and, first and foremost, veterans, on the holiday of the liberation of Moldova. Next year we will celebrate the anniversary – 75 years of liberation of Moldova from the fascists. I think that we should start this year; I propose that we set up a separate group, to begin preparing for the celebration of August 24, 2019. So that we mark this date at the highest level. I am sure that by that time both from the government and the parliamentary majority there will be full support.
