PSRM: Basescu must be declared persona non grata in Moldova, and unionism prohibited by law

Ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu, who repeatedly made statements, the meaning of which lies in the liquidation of the Republic of Moldova as a sovereign and independent state a few days ago announced his intention to submit to the Romanian parliament a plan for unification with Moldova, and at the end of January to begin regular meetings with citizens of our country, during which the “pluses” of the disappearance of Moldova from the map of the world would be told. In connection with this state of affairs, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova made a demand to declare Traian Basescu persona non grata in Moldova.

“It’s not the first time the former president of Romania has allowed himself to make statements that threaten the statehood of the Republic of Moldova. In this connection, it is a matter of concern that no state structure of the Republic of Moldova except the President of the Republic of Moldova has issued an official statement on this matter.

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova requires the authorities to take decisive measures to protect the statehood of our country and suppress any attempts to liquidate our sovereign and independent state. We demand to declare Traian Basescu persona non grata on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. We also demand prohibition of activities of all Unionist parties and movements on the territory of our country

We want to see the neighboring country as a friendly state. However, Romania’s persistent and long-term rejection of signing the Basic Political Treaty with the Republic of Moldova is puzzling, which testifies to Bucharest’s refusal to recognize the state border along the Prut River and causes a logical suspicion of the presence of aggressive expansionist plans against Moldova by the leadership of Romania. The Party of Socialists remains the only force that can prevent the scenario of Unionist revenge-seekers to eliminate Moldova in the year of the 100th anniversary of the “Great Unification”. We support firm position of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, on the protection of the Moldovan statehood. We intend to confront the Unionist threat by all lawful methods,” the statement of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova says.
