President Igor Dodon on July 20 promulgated the law to amend the Election Code and introduce the mixed-member electoral system instead of the party-list proportional representation one. The decree was signed several hours after the proposal was passed by Parliament in the final reading, IPN reports.

“I congratulate all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on this occasion. I think a new page in the modern history of the country will now start,” Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

He also said that alongside his team, he will work further to achieve all the announced objectives. “Moldova has a future!” wrote Igor Dodon.
