The Liberal Party decided that Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu will take the place of Anatol Salaru at the Ministry of Defense and a new person will be nominated for the post of minster of environment. The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu made the announcement in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“He is a person who, if you give him a job, works a lot. He wakes up early in the morning, as in the army. He is better, more professional and is known. He studied in Romania and studied defense,” said Ghimpu.

The Liberal leader noted he will insist that President Nicolae Timofti should dismiss Salaru and name Munteanu in his place as a matter of urgency because President-elect Igor Dodon could refuse to appoint the latter for the reason that he is unionist.

Mihai Ghimpu also said that Anatol Salaru was the one who wanted the post of minister of defense. “We wanted him to hold the post of Deputy Prime Minister for social matters. He is a doctor by profession and has the necessary training. But he wanted at the Ministry of Defense and we accepted. But Anatol Salaru started to work against the PL. He never spoke in the party meetings, if only from behind. When the party offered him the seat of MP everything was fine. I never thought that he will act like this. If he really cares about the party, he could have come and talked openly about problems,” he stated.

In the program, Ghimpu denied the reports that Vladimir Plahotniuc could replace Pavel Filip in the near future. “I don’t know something like this. I didn’t hear that Plahotniuc wants to become Prime Minister now. Pavel Filip does his job and will continue to work,” said the Liberal leader.
