More than 800,000 electors cast their ballots by 1pm. Thus, voter turnout was of over 28%. The voters in Ocnita district where the most active. The turnout there was over 31.7%. The lowest turnout was recorded in Gagauzia – 21.9%. Pocrovca village of Donduseni district remains the community with the most active voters, with a turnout of over 60%, IPN reports.

CEC president Alina Russu told a news conference that all the polling places work normally and no major violations were reported. The CEC didn’t receive challenges concerning activities of election runners or decisions or actions of inferior electoral bodies.

Alina Russu warned that challenges or applicators are filed to the CEC, not through social networking sites.

As regards voting abroad, the CEC president said the process is smooth. At 3pm Moldova’s time, the polling place established in Tokyo, Japan, will close. Under the legal provisions, its working program can be extended for two more hours if there are yet people who haven’t cast their ballots.

Polling places work between 7am and 9pm.
