Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu has given tricolour ribbons to each visitor and employee of the Parliament of Moldova on occasion of the State Flag Day, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

“Through aspirations and sacrifices, generation by generation, we have provided meaning to our tricolour. I decided to give my colleagues and visitors to Parliament a small tricolour today, as flag holds us together for good and worse, it is expression of our national pride. The tricolour inspires confidence in future and gives us courage to continue our struggle for Moldova to regain the right to decide on its own how it will develop further,” said SP.

Also during this period, the Parliament hosts an unprecedented exhibition of historical flags at the Centre for military culture and history (CCIM). The exhibition brings together reproductions of flags, seals and stamps on which kings’ logos are printed from different periods. The oldest exhibit, presented there, is the Flag of Ruler Stefan cel Mare si Sfant (1457 – 1504). The exhibition also includes Flag of Scarlat Grigore Ghica (1757 – 1758), Flag of the First Infantry Regiment of the Moldavian Democratic Republic (1917 – 1918), Flag of the Country Council (1917 – 1918), Flag of Ruler Mihai Viteazul (1593 – 1601), Flag of Battalion 10 of combatants from Glodeni district in battle of Dniester (1992).

The exhibition is open up to 02 May 2018.

The event is organised on occasion of the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Moldova, celebrated annually, commencing 2010, on 27 April. The tricolour was designated a state flag on 27 April 1990 by the first Parliament’s MPs.
